Lyrik and Dad Go Skiing

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to take Lyrik up to Snow Basin for her first time on the slopes. It was a perfect day except for the fact that 10,000 other people had the same idea. I really didn't know what to expect by taking her. I will admit, I prayed for lots of patients. Once there, I soon realized what a blessing it is as a parent to spend time in a one on one setting with each of your children. It's amazing to see the difference in character of that child when you give them your undivided attention. We had such a great time that Jaime and I have set a goal to have a date night with each child once a month. It is such a joy for me to do things with my kids that I loved to do when I was their age.(As the video shows) this was Lyr's first attempt at skiing. After three runs with my help she was ready to go on her own. By the end of the day she had turned into quite the little skier. We had so much fun, I can't wait to take Crew next week.

Our Little B-Baller

Crew started playing basketball this month. We have been waiting for this day a long time. He plays on Sat. and their league is called the Jr. Darts. He looks forward to this all week long. Everyday he asks what day it is and how close we are to gameday. It is so fun for us to see him get so excited. The moto goes "you must look good to play good," well that sure goes for Crew because the night before the the big game he always lays his jersey, shorts, and socks out on the floor and he even puts his matching underware on top of his black shorts. It is so funny. We love this because if you know Jus you know that Crew is taking after him all the way. I know that Justin is having fun making sure that he looks like Jazzman Kyle Korver. He is doing so well and we love his competitive spirit. He's quite the little hustler and is never afraid to get on the floor for loose balls. Often times resulting in little Raspberry's on his knees. One night, I was tucking him into bed, he said that he needed some medicine on his knees. I said ok and went to get some neosporen, he quickly said never mind, I said that it would make it feel better and he said "I don't want medicine because it will make it go away." Then as fast as he said that he said "Well, I guess its ok to put medicine on it, I will just get a new one next time." What a stinking cutie. He seriously melts my heart. Happy Valentines Day, Jus

This is Justin's favorite holiday so I am going to dedicate it to him. We stayed home and had a heart shaped pizza, frosted cupcakes, and watched "Snow Buddies." How romantic. We had a lot of fun with the kids. Ari loved "Balentimes Day." That is all that matters, right Jus...

So, so, sick..

So, the kids have been passing around fevers for the last month. Lyr got strep throat and felt better immediately because of the antibiotics. Then Crew started with the fever a couple of weeks later. It lasted about 3 days on and off. I probably should have taken him in to the doc's, but it did go away. So last week Ari started with the fever. After a few days we could tell she was not getting better, so on Tues. night I took her to the doctor. What I should tell you now so that I am able to keep my children is that I had her fever under control with Motrin but when we decided to take her in to the doctor I decided to not give her her next dosage so that they could see she had a fever. (I know all mom's have done this, so that you don’t get there and because they have had med they are acting all fine and you feel dumb for taking them.) Well, when we got there they took her temp. and it was (no lie) 105 degrees. They went through 3 different thermometers before they were convinced it was right. This was really scary because I know that with a temp that high there is a risk of seizures. To make a long night and long story short, she tested positive for strep throat and also Influenza B. We stayed 2 hours until her fever went down. That consisted of being striped to her underwear and eating 2 popsicles. Wow, and to think that this is my third child you would think we have this parenting thing down. I felt so bad, she is feeling better now, I think. Just another lesson to learn. It is ok when you go to the doc and they tell you your kid is perfectly fine. One more thing. If you think this makes sense at all will you please comment. Jus thinks I am crazy and it doesn't make sense. Crew is a great big bro. He stayed right by Ari's side.

Father Son Outing

On Monday the 11, Justin and Crew got to do boy things. Crew was so excited (as was Jus) to be able to go see the Harlem Globetrotters at the Energy Solutions Arena. Justin remembers going to see them when he was younger with his Dad and Grandpa Wimmer. So when he saw that they were coming to town he was excited to take Crew. Crew's favorite player was "Scooter" because of his mad ball handling skillz. He came home and told me how funny it was to watch his dad laugh so hard. They had a great time together.
So... If the boys were going to have fun, then the girls were going to have our own fun. We decided that we were going to go skating at classic skating with Lyr's friends in South Weber. Well, since this was the first time for Lyr on skates, it took her a little while to feel comfortable. She even got asked to skate with a boy when it was the "snowball" (I'm hoping she won't read this.) She was terrified and had a meltdown when she was finished. Oh and please don't bring this up to her since she made me promise not to tell her Dad about this. She does not think this is as funny as I do. Any way, Ari was even on skates and loved it if she stayed on the carpet. We all had a great time.

SKINNY FISche @ X-Dance

X-Dance is over!! It went great. I cant believe we made it a full week without seeing Jus. His schedule was like this... He would leave for work by 5am then be at X-Dance at 1pm and stay there until (this is not exaggerating) 12:30am. That was the routine all week long. So after a few days of this schedule and not seeing the kids at all, we decided to go visit him on Tues. We got to see what the festival was all about. It was amazing to see what a huge roll Jus had in this event. He has gotten to be quite close with Brian Wimmer who is the founder of X-Dance and has also met many of the industries top athletes (Tony Hawk, Travis Pastrana).
The kids got a chance to see why their dad has been gone so much. As for me, well lets just say I may have only complained once or twice this week which is a great step from last year. We are so proud of him and there is some extra inventory left if you guys want to support Skinny Fische!! I bet he will even give you a good deal. Oh and P.S. He helped me write this...
